"Sigma Pi has had a very strong impact on the Greek community as it has challenged the norm and helped lead the Greek community in a positive direction. It is clear that the members are headed in the right direction, and they are willing to speak up and live their values. They have provided the community with a different perspective of what fraternity means, and that challenge is what the community is looking for."
Mr. Chad Ellsworth
Coordinator of Fraternity & Sorority Life
University of Minnesota
"The Sigma Pi Expansion Staff did an
absolutely amazing job of recruiting quality young men
in a way that created a buzz and excitement for Greek
Life at K-State throughout the student body. The
student leaders and staff around campus have been very
impressed with the high quality work done by Sigma Pi
during the recruitment and colonization process. We
are very fortunate to have Sigma Pi Fraternity as a
part of the K-State Community and we look forward to
working with you in the future."
Mr. Scott Jones
Director of Greek Affairs
Kansas State University
"Their participation in Homecoming was much
appreciated, their eagerness to participate in
intramurals was astounding, and their quick way to
show bonds of brotherhood in such a short time was
quite impressive...In addition to their 250 hours
donated to the K-State Proud program, they
also donated hundreds of dollars to philanthropies
pertinent to Kansas State and the Manhattan community.
With these outstanding characteristics, I truly can
see this group of men doing a lot of great things in
the future."
Mr. Jarod Nance
President, Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity
Alpha-Omega Chapter
Kansas State University
"The brothers of Sigma Pi are a wonderful
group of well rounded individuals and I am happy and
proud to be associated with them in the Greek Life
Community...Because the brothers of Sigma Pi are very
dedicated to making Greek Life better on our campus, I
can only predict great things to come. My sisters and
I are extremely excited and are looking forward to
working with them in the future."
Ms. Laura Barton
President, Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority
Zeta-Pi Chapter
Saint Joseph's University
"Sigma Pi has been a true success story on
campus as far as the IFC is concerned. If every new
chapter expansion could run this smoothly, it would
make my job much easier. The members of the chapter
have become involved on campus as well as with the IFC
while exuding the desire to further the image of
themselves and everyone around them. Within a short
period of time, Sigma Pi has become a model to many
other chapters on campus...They have proven that by
truly devoting themselves to a cause, good things can,
and will happen."
Mr. William Norvell
President, Interfraternity Council
The University of Alabama
"I have worked with the men of Sigma Pi for
nearly a year, and can say without hesitation that
they have quickly emerged as one of the highest
performing chapters in our fraternity community. They
have excelled in all facets of campus life, assuming
positions of leadership on campus, performing service
to the campus and the Murfreesboro community, and have
accumulated an above average academic record in their
time as a colony on our campus...I cannot say enough
about the men of the Sigma Pi at MTSU. I will say
without hesitation that they are a shining example of
what it means to be a fraternity man on our campus,
and they are a credit to your organization and will
represent you well for years to come."
Mr. Gentry R. McCreary
Director of Greek Life
Middle Tennessee State University
THE
ACE PROJECT:
On Sigma Pi winning the NIC Laurel Wreath Award for Best Program in 2007: "The program is interfraternal in nature, meaning that those Sigma Pi chapters who actively engage other fraternal groups on campus foster the same sense of community and interfraternalism that is the core of our movement."
Mr. Mark Katz
President, North American Interfraternity Conference
"It is both a privilege and an honor to work
with such a dedicated and enthusiastic group of men. I
believe you truly value the fraternal tenants of
scholarship, service, and leadership. Your commitment
to the ACE Project concept and giving back to the
University of Florida is a testament to the character
of men you recruit as brothers and the values you
instill within your entire membership. For these
reasons, your chapter sets the standard for excellence
at the University of Florida."
Mr. Christopher H. Bullins
Director of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs
The University of Florida
"I truly believe that the efforts of the
Alpha-Nu Chapter were what Sigma Pi envisioned when
they created the ACE Project. I am proud of our
chapter for their continued commitment to serving our
community and the example that they set for our
students and other student organizations."
Mr. Steven Hirst
Director of Greek Life
Wake Forest University
"I applaud the men of Sigma Pi for their fine
work they did working with other organizations and
offices on the campus, with the Sam Spady Foundation,
and with each other to organize a program that, I
hope, will continue to be something the campus
community can look forward to each year. Your
week-long ACE Project shows the dedication you have to
your fraternity, your fellow students and yourselves.
Thank you Sigma Pi."
Mr. Tyler Havens
Assistant Director of Student Activities for Greek
Life
Monmouth University
"We appreciate their service to the university
both as student leaders and as volunteers who helped
improve an academic facility. We have over 705 student
organizations on campus, and Sigma Pi is one of a
handful of organizations that have taken on a
maintenance project for Purdue University."
Mr. Andrew Robinson
Greek Advisor
Purdue University
"In
my 14 years at the University, I have never experienced
any students as cooperative and polite as these young
men. They mulched most of the culinary campus and helped
us get ready for upcoming graduation. When we finished,
the men ordered pizzas and treated us to lunch. Just
wanted to let you to know what a classy group of young
men they are and how well they represented themselves
and JWU."
Mr. Norm Scherza
Grounds Supervisor Johnson & Wales University (Providence, RI) "When
most University students finish class and prepare to party on Friday, custodian
Brikti Haile starts her night by changing into her uniform and taking inventory
of her supply closet. But this Friday, Haile started her shift at Sigma Pi's
Unsung Heroes' Dinner. The fraternity hosted a grill-out for 320 of the
University's custodial staff. The dinner was intended to show appreciation for
the University's custodial staff, said engineer sophomore and fraternity
President Bryan Roeser. 'All these workers help keep our campus clean, and they
usually only get noticed if they don't do a good job,' Roeser said. 'This is our
way for us to say thanks.' Custodian Cathy Reihe said that she has been working
for the University's custodial service for 33 years, and she had never been
thanked by a fraternity before. 'It's excellent that they acknowledged us,' she
said." Fraternity

April 16, 2007 The Minnesota Daily Newspaper INVOLVEMENT WITH THE SAM
SPADY FOUNDATION:
"I
wanted to thank you for your involvement with the
Office of Substance Awareness. Sigma Pi was a great
addition to our annual student and employee Health
Fair on April 26, 2007. The resource table Sigma Pi
set up was very informative on the dangers of binge
drinking, drunk driving and awareness of Sam Spady.
The brothers who volunteered their time were very
enthusiastic and willing to assist in any way they
could. On April 23, 2007, this office
co-sponsored the "Voices in Recovery"
Program with Sigma Pi. This event involved three youth
from a residential treatment center who shared their
experiences and struggles around substance abuse and
life now in recovery. The message these youths
shared seemed to be well received and of interest to
the audience. Once again, it was a pleasure to
work with Sigma Pi and I look forward to co-sponsoring
in the future!"

Substance Awareness Coordinator

THE SIGMA PI FRATERNITY EXPERIENCE:
On
being a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity, what best
prepared you to be Governor?
(Courtesy:
Emerald, Winter 2007 Edition) "Family
members, friends, and mentors taught me a set of
values and beliefs that I followed despite what others
may have thought, and I always had a passion to
succeed at any endeavor I felt was important.
My experience at Arkansas State University
instilled a loyalty in me that hasnít wavered and
has remained with me all my life.
After completing law school at the University
of Arkansas, while serving in the U.S. Army Reserves,
I clerked for a small law firm and became fascinated
by the legal and judicial process."
State
of Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe
(Alpha-Pi, Arkansas State '68) 2006
Sigma Pi Founder's Award Winner
"I
can say that joining Sigma Pi was the best thing
I've ever done in my life. Without the support of
my chapter brothers at Seton Hall the transition would
have been much more difficult, and I'm extremely
thankful I was able to be in that family...Ethnicity was
never an issue with Sigma Pi members when I
pledged...The reason I pledged Sigma Pi was because the
doors were wide open and they accepted me for sharing
the similar ideals. I was actually invited to
check Sigma Pi out, the Delta-Epsilon brothers accepted
me for who I was and not my color, and that was what
made my experience so positive."
Mr. Dwayne M. Harris
(Delta-Epsilon, Seton Hall '90)
NAACP Presidential
Award Winner
"I recall that Sigma Pi had a humble
beginning, but it also had high ideals and a serious
purpose; and that is the reason, I think, why it has
grown into a large and strong organization. Its
chapter houses are laboratories where the members
learn to live together, and it teaches the spirit of
true brotherhood. That is the kind of training
that is so much needed in America and through the
world today."

"Fraternities
provide excellent opportunities for leadership
development as well as lessons in learning how to live
with other people.
During my undergraduate days there was no greater influence in my personal development
than my life in Psi Chapter of Sigma Pi
Fraternity."

Judson C. Ward, Jr.

Former Vice President and Dean of Faculties at Emory
